Altos Hormigas Valle de Uco Malbec, a vivid red wine of power, balance and finesse. Fermented slowly with indigenous yeast with a long maceration and maturation in concrete, steel and 25% oak foudre make for wine of generosity and style.Delicious Malbec, full bodied, yes, rich and satisfying, yes, but cloying and over extracted, a firm NO! Try it on a cold night by the fire.

Altos Las Hormigas is based in Luján de Cuyo, the only officially recognised appellation within Mendoza and one of the region's premium vine growing areas. The estate is well known for specialising in Malbec, having pioneered a fresher, more elegant style of the wine. Today they are recognised as one of the country's top five producers of this particular variety. The estate covers 88 hectares with 56 in production. Unusually for the region, the winemakers work the vineyard with biodynamic practices, and aim for minimum intervention in the winery, which gives their wines a unique sense of origin.
