Details

Ancre Hills Sparkling Rose 2011 Biodynamic wine from Wales, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, natural yeast, long lees ageing, delicious Champagne style Sparkling wine from the UK. Full pink appearance, soft nose of citrus, fresh and compote strawberries and yeast. Summer fruits pudding. Lovely ripe citrus fruit on the palate with wild strawberries and hints of vanilla cream. Soft persistent mousse with a soft and clean finish and delicate acidity. A stylish and delicious natural sparkling wine from pioneering Welsh producer in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside.

Ancre Hills achieved full Demeter certification for their vineyard and production in 2013.  Their beautiful vineyard is situated just outside Monmouth Town in South Wales and benefits from an unusually temperate micro climate with very low rainfall.  The vineyards are all south facing and based on limestone rich soils, so the conditions are about the best they can be for the production of quality English wine.   Richard and Joy Morris are now ably assisted by their passionate wine making son David and are developing wines with real character and style, a Welsh Natural Style which offers freshness and authentic flavours along with a real sense of the ground and the local climate.
