Antolini Valpolicella Triple Set (2 x 750ml, 1 x 500ml) Ripasso, Amarone, Recioto, organic, blockbuster Italian wines. This fantastic triple set includes three bottles from Valpolicella producer Pier Paulo Antolini, who makes stunningly hedonistic wines, that carry a unique sense of identity and honesty. Although they aim for body and fullness of flavour, they use very little new oak and the wines are very fresh and honest thanks to natural farming and natural yeasts. The Amarone has stunning concentration and is awe inspiringly good. The Recioto dessert wine is liquid gold and Antolini's Ripasso wipes the floor with many a more expensive example.

The Ripasso, made by adding the used dried grapes from the Amarone into a vat of normal Valpolicella wine, is superb. Smooth, voluptuous, with a core of dark, deep fruit. Perfect for Christmas lunch. We think that Amarone Moropio Antolini is one of the most perfectly balanced and elegant Amarones out there, and it's organic! It is over 16% abv such is the freshness, fruitiness and superb balance you could finish the bottle no problem. This is an Amarone that doesn't disappoint. Will go excellently with your red meat and mature cheese! We've had the Recioto open for the last 2 years at each of our Christmas tastings, and I am always reminded how incredible it is. Deep, rich fruits, sour cherry, hints of dark chocolate and liquorice. It could almost be a port. With a slab of gorgonzola it is hard to think of anything more heavenly.
