Barbera Dodicidodici Castello di Cigognola, 100% Barbera, Oltrepo Pavese, rich, soft fruits, round and easy textured wine. Punchy fruit driven Barbera from one of Italy's most opulent wine estates.....This is modern style Barbera and you would expect that when the wine maker is Ricardo Cotarella who some see as the Robert Parker of Italian wine making. None the less, this is stunning wine, rich, round, notes of dark plum, black cherry, cassis, spice and sweet oak. This is a wine for those who love inky reds with plenty of kick, you cannot fail to enjoy it. It has all the quality and opulence you would expect from the Moratti family who own this beautiful wine estate. As owners of the Saras oil company they are one of the richest families in Italy!

Castello di Cigognola is a 12th Century castle, with 33 hectares of vines on steep slopes. They have some excellent terroir and perfect micro-climate for Barbera, which is their primary grape. They aim to produce high quality, authentic wines that represent the best of the region.
