Barolo Elio Sandri is a triumph and shows that the traditional method of making this noble wine and the patience needed to so will always be rewarded. The classic aromas of tar, rose and dried raspberry come through on the nose with added notes of leather and liquorice. The palate is structured and opulent, ready to drink now but further ageing will yield a wine of immense complexity and hedonistic flavour. The Sandri estate makes elegant wines that combine the feminine aromas of great Nebbiolo with the masculine structure of a serious full bodied red wine. Superb for hearty meat dishes, truffles, game and strong Piemontese cheese.
