Beaujolais Chateau Cambon Marie Lapierre, Natural, bramble fruits, juicy, wild yeast ferment Gamay. Chateau Cambon is run by Marie Lapierre wife of the godfather of Gamay, Marcel Lapierre. The wine is made totally naturally, expressing terroir and possessing a cool freshness. This is certainly several steps above one dimensional Beaujolais we often think of - but is a wine of vinosity best served lightly chilled at a picnic, with mellow yet evident tannins, fresh summer fruits and a slight beastiness. Quintessentially French. Wild yeast ferment and fruit from 80 year old vines.

The wines of Chateau Cambon come from a forgotten vineyard between Morgon and Brouilly, with vines upwards of 80 years old. They seek to make wines that express the purity of Gamay and its terroir. Chateau Cambon uses natural yeasts, ageing in 200 year-old foudres and bottling with little or no SO2.

3Reviews For Beaujolais Chateau Cambon Marie Lapierre 2019

  1. How good is this wine?

    Laura Stevens18/02/2021

Giving this wine 4 stars, only because I've tried the Lapierre's other wine - Raisins Gaulois Gamay - which was AMAZING. It seems to have been out of stock for a while now, so thought I'd try this one. It's got really nice flavours to it and feels light & smooth on the palate.

I did however leave half a bottle in a carafe, and upon drinking it again a few days later it tasted A LOT stronger and I didn't enjoy it as much. Still delicious though and would recommend!

I also have high sulphur sensitivity and this wine was perfect, felt absolutely fine the following days afterwards.

  2. How good is this wine?

    Simply divine

  3. How good is this wine?

This is more towards the Moulin a Vent end of Beaujolais in my opinion, with somewhat more oak apparent than is the case with Fleurie etc. So less typical but so nice all the same, it will be a wine we shall be buying again!
