Details

Moulin-a-Vent Domaine de la Fines Graves Jacky Janodet, 100% Gamay, aged in barrique, foudre and steel, sublime texture and structure, savoury yet fresh, superb. Moulin-a-Vent is often said to be one of the chunkier of the Beaujolais Crus and this delicious wine has body and fleshy fruit to spare. Moulin makes a great alternative to a pricier red burgundy and its generous fruit and structure makes it great for something like cold beef salad or delicately roasted lamb cutlets. Jerome Janodet took over from his father Jacky sadly passed away in 2013 at this eponymous estate in Romanèche-Thorins and is now working hard to produce wine every bit as tasty and authentic as his father.

The 10.5 hectare estate based in Romanèche-Thorins has vineyards across the best sites in Moulin à Vent, where the soils are mostly granitic, and Chenas. The vines average at around 50 years old. Jacky Janodet had been running the vineyard since 1974 until he passed away, and was hailed as one of the region's most gifted winemakers. Since his death, his son Jerome has continued making wine in the family tradition.
