Carino Agrunelles 2010 Carino Agrunelles 2010

The domaine Mas des Agrunelles was born from the collaboration of Frédéric Porro – Domaine La Marèle – and Stéphanie Ponson – Mas Nicot – in 2005 near Murles in Languedoc. They usually say about it: "we first met thanks to wine and now wine unites us".  The name of the estate comes from the fact that there are a lot of wild sloes trees around the vineyards and sloes is "Agrunelles" in Occitan language.

The 18 hectares of vineyards are spread on a dozen of plots and the vines are planted on clay and limestone soils (Jurassic limestone). Everything is done organically (certified Ecocert) and biodynamically in the vineyards with traditional methods (ploughing the soils, no weed killers, etc.). The winemaking is deeply respectful of the fruits and the terroir. Grape varieties and terroir are matched (ie all varieties limestone are blended) blended together and very low levels of sulphites are added to the wines when they are bottled.

The duo is united by passion, Stéphanie and Frédéric are genuine and humble winemakers that truly succeed in making amazingly fresh and expressive wines. These wines will definitely give you something else to think about and the price for the level of quality is exceptional.

Carino is from 100% old vine Carignan (50 years plus) planted on limestone soils.  It is vinified with natural yeast in stainless steel with no other intervention.  The wine is very pure, very fresh, bright red and black fruit flavours mingle with fresh acidity and the wine has amazing depth for one of this price.  Really excellent southern French red that you just want to keep on drinking.  Buy now at Buon Vino
