Wine & Gastronomy Break
Buon Vino has brought together local food heroes to create a unique gastronomic experience for lovers of world-class wines and creative cookery. Based in a luxury hotel, the two-night break will place food artisans in the spotlight and allow guests to discover the world of natural wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
The small group will be based at the luxurious Hipping Hall hotel, near Kirkby Lonsdale for two nights (17-19 October). Locally produced (and foraged) ingredients will be at the heart of chef Oli Martin’s menu. He has the pick of an enviable local larder: seafood is fresh from our shores, game comes from the high Pennines and the hotel’s location in rich pastureland ensures the best quality local meat.
Hipping Hall’s Head Chef Oli Martin, says: “this foodie experience is the perfect opportunity for guests to discover some of the ingredients I use in creating my dishes. I’m fortunate in being able to choose some of the best produce available from the three surrounding counties on Hipping Hall’s doorstep”. Oli’s creative menu will be complemented by a flight of natural wines on both evenings, selected and presented by Buon Vino's very own Rob Bagot.
Excursions to visit charcutier Chris Wildman and cheese refiner Andy Swinscoe will feature on this voyage of discovery. Chris, at his base in beautiful Malhamdale, will talk about butchery, salumi and charcuterie – and of course his famous Yorkshire Chorizo, which in Chris’s own words is: “our original and still bestselling product and so versatile it has become a store cupboard essential”. Andy, of the multi award winning Courtyard Dairy, will share his passion for the produce of small independent cheese makers. There will be plenty of opportunity to taste the fruits of their labours along the way.
Andy Swinscoe of The Courtyard Dairy, says: “The lucky participants will get to taste some of the UK's most outstanding cheeses, tutored by a World Cheesemonger of the Year, and will see first-hand the story of farmhouse and artisan cheese in Britain”.
Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “This culinary journey is a fantastic idea and a great way to take in the wide range of brilliant home-grown produce our glorious county has to offer”.
Here at Buon Vino, we know our customers are searching for world-class wine and food. This experience will showcase the artisan producers and outstanding cookery in our corner of Yorkshire – and allow people to discover delicious natural wine in a beautiful setting.
