- Montevertine Pian del Ciampolo 2019, Natural/Organic wine, Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, a classic Tuscan blend, elegant and smooth red wine. The wine for all occasions according to the good folk at Montevertine, made from the classic Tuscan Chianti grapes and aged for a year in Slavonian oak barrels, a beautiful glass of typically Tuscan red wine.
Montevertine is situated in the heart of the Chianti region, 3 kilometers or so south of Radda, on a plot around 425m above sea level.
Sergio Manetti acquired Montevertine in 1967, and initially intended to make wine as a hobby for friends and family. With some considerable success with his first vintage, he decided to give up his livelihood and dedicate himself to wine. They replanted and installed new cellars, and began bottling this now iconic wine. Though he is no longer alive, his son now runs the vineyard in keeping with the traditions of his father. They grow Sangiovese exclusively, and their wines are made from the difference parcels on the estate. All wines are made with respect for the land, and the wines are bottled without filtration. For lovers of Sangiovese there can't be many better buys - certainly worth cellaring.
