Details

Champagne Piollot Vintage 2011, organic wine, natural Champagne, artisan Champagne, naturally pure and delightfully drinkable. The Piollot vintage wine manages to be at its core a wine of great depth and voluminous richness but maintains a veil of delightful citrus freshness and acidity particularly on the finish. 100% Chardonnay, the base wines are part fermented in wood with ambient yeasts and the ageing in bottle is around 40 months. Roland is a gentle and very down to earth Vigneron. His wines are a serious but honest reflection of his terroir, natural approach to production and family history. The prices reflect his humility and this vintage which will age very well indeed is great value for money.

Roland Piollot has been working in the vineyard since the 1980s, taking over from his father, though the estate has been in the family since 1817. The estate is now certified organic and employs some biodynamic methods to ensure the health and vitality of the vines, and only indigenous yeasts are used. Situated in Polisot, on the Cote des Bars, the whole process takes place on the domaine. The majority of the estate is planted with Pinot Noir, though some of the vineyard is dedicated to Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc and Arbanne. We believe that their champagnes are an authentic taste of Champagne, and offer a great price for a boutique label.
