Details

Champagne Deville NV Traditional Method Carte Noire, mostly Pinot Noir with a small amount of Chardonnay aged in old oak with buttery and toasty citrus fruit flavours. Dense and small bubbles with rich fruity notes. This is excellent value Champagne from a relatively small, family winemaker. Why buy Champagne from the huge commercial champagne houses when you can get such good quality at this price? Lush, toasty, but with that great backbone of acidity to keep it poised.

Based in Verzy, just 20 kilometers southeast of the capital of Champagne, Reims, Jean Paul Deville's vineyards grow on a hill, which maximises precious sun exposure in this Northern climate. Since 2013 Jean Paul's wife and 4 sons have farmed the vineyards following Jean Paul's premature death. They continue the tradition he started with passion and skill and have produced this wonderful champagne, which has an unusually high proportion of Pinot Noir, and prolonged bottle age to add richness and texture. A great value, boutique Champagne from a lesser known producer.
