Chardonnay Bambule Judith Beck 2017, biodynamic wine, light skin contact, no added sulphites, Chardonnay with bite and style, delicious. This magnificent Chardonnay from very low yielding Bio vines is skin fermented for about two weeks but not to make orange wine but to add character and texture. Then it is pressed and aged for 15 months in old barrels on the whole lees. On first opening, the aromas are quite reductive at first, then slowly, they start to evolve and burst out of the glass. Like all Bambule wines, it is bottled without filtration and with no SO2 added. A mega Chardonnay with versatility for food pairing, fermented in 1000 litre flower pots and barrels.
Winery Judith Beck is a 15 hectare estate in Gols in Austria's Burgenland which has been farming biodynamically since 2007, aiming to respect the environment and produce the best quality grapes, using native Austrian varieties. Judith Beck herself studied abroad at places like Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux and Errazuriz in Chile but returned home to take over from her father and move the winery in the direction of natural wine making. They encourage the formation of humus as a basis of healthy soils, using their own natural composts and cultivating grass between the rows. Herbal remedies are also used and the vines are maintained under the rhythms of the moon. In order to produce authentic wines, they also avoid inoculated yeasts of any kind, and minimise sulphur, fining or filtration, with her Bambule! range epitomising this philosophy. These are sentiments and ideas we like at Buon Vino and the wines are really delicious, fresh and also great value for money, from an up and coming area that is producing some really excellent produce.
