Cremant d'Alsace Bruno Sorg NV, delicious, lively sparkling wine, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Chardonnay, Champagne alternative. A delightful glass of bubbles from this excellent producer of fine Alsace wines with the fruit for the Cremant coming from Eguisheim, and one of the most well respected producers in Alsace, whose rich Gewurztraminers and Pinot Noirs are excellent. His Cremant is lively and crispy with apples and pears, lemon pith and lovely subtle biscuit and creamy notes. There are 3 atmospheres of pressure in Cremant rather than 5 - 6 in Champagne so a softer fizz which gives the creamy mouthfeel, hence the name. An excellent alternative to cheaper champagne and much nicer!

Domaine Bruno Sorg was founded in 1965 by Renée and Bruno Sorg at Ingersheim, where Renée was born. In 1972 they bought a house and surrounding land at Eguisheim where the vineyard is today. Since Bruno's death, Francois, his son, has carried on the tradition, and recently installed a new temperature controlled fermenter. In the vineyard they have a 'raisonnée' approach - limiting the chemicals used to only what's strictly necessary to prevent disease. They also promote the coexistence of difference species, including rare plants which all adds to the character of the grapes.
