Production Detail Lightly peated

One of the most complex single malts of this age that I've tasted, a truly intriguing and trendy whisky from the Tomatin distillery.
Lightly peated and aged in three stages: first in ex-Bourbon casks, then ex-sherry casks and finally virgin oak. Non-chill filtered, 46% abv. Only 60,000 litres made each year.
Subtle smoke is woven into a nose and palate that is both creamy and complex, containing clear citrus fruits and exotic spice. It's that hint of peaty smoke which lends itself to the name Cu Bocan, a black beast in local legend which stalks the highlands, which dissolves into an inky cloud of blue smoke, only to be seen again once in a generation.

Known for high quality Highland whiskies, Tomatin also bottle under some other labels, including the award winning Cu Bocan range. Based just south of Inverness, Tomatin may be one of the biggest distilleries in Scotland, but with a focus on social responsibility (80% of the employees still living on site), and ageing in high quality barrels, their reputation is well deserved.
