Discover Sauvignon Blanc, an intriguing selection of Sauvignon, showing each one of its many personalities. Moving away from the cliché expressions of Marlborough and expanding the boundaries of what you can expect from this complex grape variety. Moulin Dames, a superb southern French example. Barrel fermented, this exudes rich buttery spices and poised texture, rich fruits and a dash of minerals. Pierre Precieuse Bain used to be Pouilly Fume but he pulled out of the appellation as he wanted to make the wines his way. It is full bodied and textured with notes of blossom and tangerine. The Elgin Ridge is another barrel fermented wine from a small biodynamic producer in Elgin. It has some bottle age now with bags of rich stone fruit, spicy notes and smokiness. The Gratitud has a hint of Gooseberry about it although it hails from Penedes but it is much nicer and more complex than the standard New Zealand fare. Lastly, two wines from the Loire, Desirade and Akmenine, both outstanding and full bodied, Riffault's Sancerre here also has some skin contact. What a box of discovery, if you like Sauvignon and natural wine, you will love this lot.
