Details

Elijah Craig Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, top quality bourbon, tasty oak, stewed fruits, caramel and vanilla. Premium small batch bourbon from renowned Elijah Craig label, aged from selected barrels averaging 8-12 years age, made to a generations-old family recipe that hasn't changed since Elijah himself. Master distillers select the most complex barrels after years of ageing to go into the Small Batch. Each Small Batch carries a signature warm spice and subtle smoke flavour, including nutmeg, vanilla, fresh mint and maple. Winner of a number of global awards, this is truly world-class Bourbon paying appropriate homage to its namesake.

Elijah Craig is now one of the labels of Heaven Hill Distilleries, named after the Reverend Elijah Craig, a Baptist preacher and active character in 1800s Kentucky, who was also a pioneer in the world of Bourbon, accredited with first using charred American oak barrels to create that distinctive flavour. There are a number of legends as to how Elijah started using charred barrels, one involving an accidental fire at the mill, but however he did it, the legacy continues today. Heaven Hill Distillery preserves the Bourbon making traditions developed by Elijah Craig: local corn and grains are milled and mixed with limestone-rich Kentucky spring water, then fermented and distilled. After years of aging in charred oak, their Master Distillers select the most complex barrels to go into bottles.
