Ezo Les Vins de Cabanon, Biodynamic wine, sensational garage wine, simply superb freshness and life in a wine that moves and develops with the seasons as if the grapes were still dangling on the vine. This is how all wines should be, so pure and vital, so mouth watering and crunchy. Ezo is a blend of Syrah and Merlot. On first opening, the nose can be somewhat surprising.....or down right weird but give the wine a few minutes for it to breath deeply the life giving oxygen it needs to find itself again having been left dormant in the bottle and then it will explode with juicy berry fruits, scents of herbs and garrigue, sea salt and olives, breath it in and savour the wine, magnificent.

Le Casot des Mailloles is a 5 hectare estate nestled on the steep walled terraces overlooking the town of Banyuls. The word 'Casot' refers to the traditional stone shelters that dot the vineyards of the exposed Banuyls region, an area where wine makers sought refuge from the strong winds of the Tramontane during bad weather. Alain Castex has now passed on the winery of 'Le Casot'. Alain has nonetheless kept a few vineyards with which he makes some of the classic wines he’s known for. Alain worked for 15 years in the Corbières region before founding Le Casot 15 years ago. For Les Vins du Cabanon, he has kept the vineyards in Trouillas and so will keep making Canta Mañana, Ezo, Tir à Blanc and Poudre d’Escampette.
(Referring to Le Casot de Mailolles) This is pure 'garage wine', artisan par excellence, the wine making is even done in a former Citroen garage that Alain and his partner Ghislaine Magnier found 15 days before their very first harvest! Old vines with low yields are planted on schists soils and the wines are usually aged in old oak barrels, are not fined nor filtered and no sulphites are added at any stage of production. With barely 5,000 bottles produced each year, Le Casot des Mailloles is one of the smallest estates of the Banyuls appellation and their elixirs of life are highly sought after.
