False Bay Sauvignon Blanc, dry, fresh, citrus, apples, crisp and easy. False Bay Sauvignon is a lovely wine for this price, a must try for an everyday easy drinking white wine. Far from being in your face or overtly aromatic (like some Marlborough Sauvignon we care not to mention) this little wine is really surprisingly elegant and moreish. The acidity is high and well balanced with citrus and tropical fruits, notes of lychee with some classic Loire grassy notes verging on asparagus. Excellent freshness and a good length round out this wine of really exceptional value. Would suit a variety of fish dishes, salads, light Pasta dishes and spring vegetables or just on its own as an aperitif.

First discovered by sailors confusing it for Table Bay to the north, False Bay has long been a haven for those navigating the treacherous Cape of Good Hope. The cool coastal breeze which sweeps off the Indian Ocean tempers the ripening process in this area of the cape, extends the growing season and produces expressive wines with more precise varietal characters and purity. The False Bay range was developed by Paul Boutinot, an Englishman from Manchester who not only established a highly successful importing company but also then invested in an incredible 250 hectare wine estate in South Africa. He makes many cuvee at Waterkloof including the entry level False Bay range from fruit sourced from elsewhere in the region. These wines offer outstanding value and fresh easy drinking varietal wines.

1Reviews For False Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2017

  1. How good is this wine?

Had this in a restaurant and got a bit hooked! A really smooth wine, no acid or tannin. Genuinely slips down. The slow brew with only the yeast on the grapes certainly works. Best served a few degrees below room temp - not too cold. This far too cheap.
