Details

Natural wines often (though not always) have a hint of the funky about them, and we really like that. It's quite a difficult thing to put your finger on, but it can be slightly earthy, barnyard aromas, a hint of spritz or some crunchy acid. We've put together a couple of cases for you which will give you a great introduction to the world of the funky. This one is a selection of our favourite funky whites. Bellotti Bianco is a left-field blend from Piemonte - it's crisp, yeasty and has a little bit of spritz. Bora Lunga is from a rare grape called Spergola, and is light, floral, with a touch of something foresty - a great food wine! Theodora is a fascinating incarnation of Gruner Veltliner from renowned biodynamic Austrian estate Gut Oggau, with fresh, herbal flavours, and something a little bit vegetal. Aorivola Falaghina is a delicious, textured white from Campania, with subtle skin contact and flavours of the Mediterranean! The Greek Assyrtiko is great, a rare grape that here is complex and expressive. Fuchs und Hase Volume 4 from Austria, is light and refreshing, with a herbal quality and subtle skin contact for texture and depth. Enjoy!
