Gamay from natural producers like Giachino has a delightful carthorse kind of authenticity. This is lovely light red wine but by no means simple. It is grown on incredible moraine soils and the vines are old so there is minerality and depth to this lovely fresh glass of Biodynamic mountain red

Domaine Giachino was created in 1998 when Frédéric took over the 1,5 hectares family estate from his grandfather Marius Genton. Later joined by his brother David, they progressively enlarged the estate to 9 hectares and enriched their vineyards with new grape varieties particular to their area of the Savoie. Their values and philosophy made a switch to natural and organic methods inevitable and this they did in 2006. The vineyards of Domaine Giachino are in Savoie, not far from Chambéry, on the hillsides of Mont Granier. The soils are moraine, clay and limestone; a specific geology to the area and source of the uniqueness of their delicious organic wines.

2Reviews For Gamay de Savoie Giachino 2016

  1. How good is this wine?

Just right. A nice light red, light herb flavour and fruity. Perfect.

  2. How good is this wine?

Unflashy, honest wine that mixes earthy, forest floor aromas of wet leaves and wild herbs with a subtle dusty strawberry core. Charcuterie, cheese and a gallon of this Gamay please!
