Gewurztraminer Steiner Jean-Pierre Frick, biodynamic, aromatic, textured, delicious wine from Alsace. At the forefront of the biodynamic movement Jean-Pierre Frick makes wines that are scrupulously natural. From promoting biodiversity in the vineyard to hand harvesting all the grapes to using little and even no sulphur during the wine making to ageing in large old oak casks, Jean-Pierre aspires to capture the essence of the grape and also the flavour of the terroir. The Gewurztraminer Steiner Pierre Frick is delicious, from chalky soils, has a deep yellow colour and aromas of rose petals, star anise, and flavours of stewed peach, mandarin and saffron. Would be delicious with a Tagine or with any type of Pate or Terrine. For Gewurz fanatics this one is a must!
Run by the Frick family, Jean-Pierre, Chantal and their son Thomas, this 12 hectare estate prides itself in clean wines that are undoubtedly Alsatian, made as naturally as possible. They've had Demeter certification since 1990, and since 1999 they have even made some of their cuvees without any addition of sulphites. Their grape parcels are spread out across a 15km area, on several different terroirs, which allows them to produce a variety of Crus and grape varieties, though most are characterised by chalky soils. Their wines are never interfered with, just lightly filtered and bottled with an absolute minimum of sulphur. They are some of the best examples of Alsace wines we've come across - wines of real character and depth.
