Gobernador Oloroso Seco NV Emilio Hidalgo, deep, nutty, complex, aromatic dry sherry. Gobernador Oloroso is a full-bodied sherry with wonderful aromas. Deep mahogany in colour with an elegant nose, as a result of its long maturation in oak casks. As soon as you pour it out the scent of hazelnuts and caramel just leaps out at you - it's extremely aromatic. Those flavours continue into the pallet which is balanced and lengthy. Excellent with red meats, game birds, cured cheeses, stews, roast pork or simply on its own after dinner. We had this open at a tasting event recently and it was the first bottle I reached for when it was time to divvy up the leftovers!
This bodega was founded in the mid nineteenth century by Emilio Hidalgo Hidalgo in the old part of the city of Jerez de la Frontera. The company is now owned by the fifth generation of his descendants. Currently the winery houses casks of the original wine used to found the company, which is carefully renewed and enriched by the fifth generation of the founding family dedicated to the wine industry

I can't think of any better way to start a meal than a drop of this as an aperitif! Hazelnuts just jump out the glass, and it really gets your appetite going. Real top quality sherry
