Delicate orange peel and honeysuckle aromas. There is a subtle smoky, toasty character from the oak barrels too. The wine is concentrated and honeyed - but not at all cloying - due to fresh, balancing acidity. The Urizar vineyard in the Etxano area, covers 7 hectares. Vines are planted at a density of 3300 / hectare and cultivated on large slopes, orientated towards the south, providing small grapes. Work with the pure lees gives complexity and body. Vines are cultivated with complete respect for the environment and sustainable techniques. Pruning, shoot and leaf thinning is carried out rigorously by hand. harvested in November, by which time the sugars have accumulated in the grapes enabling the creation of this divine elixir. Two out of every three bunches are eliminated pre-harvest meaning incredibly low yields and tiny quantities. The juice is fermented in new French oak barrels, and the wine is then aged on its lees for 3 months.

Gorka Izagirre is a family project that was born in the vineyard and aims to achieve high quality wines that are typical of the region of Biscay, using local grape varities. The grapes are grown across 40 hectares of vines, divided into small plots. The coastal air, steep hilly slopes, southeast morning sun, well-aerated plots green lush hillsides impart a unique freshness and character to the wines. They hand harvest only the highest quality grapes and use meticulous care in extracting their character, with top of the range equipment, so that quality shines through in every bottle.

    Managed to source this beautiful sweet wine from Buon Vino Following a recommendation from a Michelin starred restaurant in London.
    Orange peel apricot and smokey vanilla goes very well with most desserts tarte tatin and orange soufflé especially
    We’ve even converted some “ don’t like dessert wine” friends,though it is hard to resist a real cracker
