Details

Gouveio Quinta das Maias, organic wine, white flowers and freshness stone fruits, zippy acidity, lovely mouthfeel, crowd pleaser white wine. The Maias single varietal wines are only released when the vintage is very special. The 2019 Gouveio has been vinified in stainless steel to maintain those characteristics and has outstanding balance and style showing yet another lesser known Portuguese grape with great quality potential.

Quinta das Maias is a fantastic little wine farm situated 600 metres above sea level on a high plateau in the Dao region of Portugalwho are certified organic. Luis Lourenco who runs the estate is proud of this fact and also of his excellent wines which not only offer great, approachable drinkability but also fantastic value for money. The estate was originally planted to vines in the late 19th century, and since changes in law which allow producers more freedom to bottle their own wines, quality has improved drastically, and forward thinking producers like Luis have come to realise the potential of the fantastic granitic terroir and the delicious local grapes varieties, Jaen, Encruzado and Malvasia Fina.
