Gran Cerdo Blanco Gonzalo Grijalba, Viura, medium bodied, fruity, dry, great value natural white wine. Organic (not certified). Viura with 10 other varieties, a little funky but fresh and fruity natural wine. Gran Cerdo is all about great natural wine with a very affordable price tag. The new white wine is mainly the white Rioja Grape Viura with about 20% of various grapes including things like Gruner Veltliner, Macabeo and various others. This is not complicated wine but something that you can serve chilled with some simple tapas and comfortably smash away a couple of bottles with friends and enjoy every minute. The price tag also excellent and makes this boutique wine extremely friendly!

The back label......

Gran Cerdo is a great wine dedicated to the bank executives that denied loans to us on the basis that wine is not a seizable asset. One day, these greasy and sweaty corporate suits will find that the best things in life cannot be impounded. Thanks to our friends help, we were finally able to bottle this wine. Now you can enjoy it with pasta or ham.

Gonzalo Gonzalo Grijalba was born in Logroño, Spain and grew up among the vineyards that his parents cultivated in Fuenmayor. After several years of training in various parts of the wine-making world, he returned to start his own project. Fiercely protective of the terroir of his family vineyards Gonzalo rejects market driven fashions, formulae, chemical treatments and conformism. Instead he has sought out his own methods with respect for the land, his vineyards, and the traditions of his forefathers. He balances this respect with formal training in the latest enological techniques and methods. His father's illness from years of working with chemical herbicides and pesticides was a major influence in his decision making. The soil itself suffered as well, losing its vitality as well as its ecosystem. Gonzalo has worked hard to restore the vitality of the vineyards, and has revived natural treatments and biodynamic practices to maintain healthy vineyards.

8Reviews For Gran Cerdo Blanco Gonzalo Grijalba 2019

  1. How good is this wine?

A wine that’s easy drinking with bold flavours, yet complex and loaded with interesting nuances. A nice balance of acidity and sweetness, packed with fruit flavours and a slight minerality.
Trendy & cool label with flavours that match, sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.
Great on its own, but it would be able to hold its own when paired.
    Great value for money.

Lovely creamy texture with acid at the end. An easy drinking, everyday wine at a great pricepoint that one would feel cool bringing to a get-together. Delicious, fun with a bit of edge.

IN not into white wine. But this biodynamic natural wine is everything . Light and fruity. Best aroma ever taste before. Reminds me of Muscat. Love it

  4. How good is this wine?

Tried this again, a few months after my previous review, this time outdoors - which can make a wine seem less interesting, as there are so many other smells going on.

It did well, and impressed the folks I served it to - so bbq and picnic away with this.

  5. How good is this wine?

So, I decided to decant this in a bit of an experiment. I'm not sure if it made a difference (it's not like I had a control group) but the acidity/body/fruit profile is really moreish, with ripe soft fruit making one of my guests saying it had a really pleasing sweetness (though it is not a sweet wine in any way). I'd definitely re-buy this and would happily have it as my house white.

I drank Gran Cerdo in a wine bar on the Strand in London with some girlfriends. WE loved it. Then I found it at Buon Vino for 23 pounds less a bottle than we paid for it at the wine bar. So I ordered a case in anticipation of a big party we were having only to find out I had ordered it too late and that it was going to come after the party. Buon Vino came through and found a way to deliver it on a Saturday. Hurrah. Thanks for the help.

  7. How good is this wine?

Nice light wine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Lack if added phosphates makes such a difference to the taste - fresher. Will definitely buy this one again.

  8. How good is this wine?

    Just drink it . . .
