IGP Mediterranee Le Petit Fonainebleau Rose Chateau Fontainebleau, biodynamic wine, Cinsault, Grenache, Pure Provence. Le Petit Fontainebleau is a delicious natural wine from the Var region of Provence just north of Brignoles. The name of the 16 hectare estate comes from the proximity to the river and the abundance of water in the subsoil meaning the vines suffer from less water stress in the height of summer and this helps the ripeness of the fruit and the delicacy if aroma. The Rose Petit Fontainebleau has the lovel aromas of provence, with peach and strawberry on the nose with subtle notes of garrigue. The palate is superb, soft, clean, bright and well balanced, the ideal summer aperitif or with provencal dishes like fish stew or simple toasted bread with tapenade.
Owned by Jean-Louis Bouchard, with winemaking overseen by Valerie Courreges, Chateau Fontainebleau was a forgotten plot of vineyard gold until 2009. Since then, using biodynamic principles, the vines have been revived and winemaking has begun again. The 27ha of vines benefit from a natural amphitheatre and a unique terroir of red pelite, to create wines of finesse and quality that are typically Provencale. Due to the vineyard's configuration, the grapes can only be picked up by hand. This enables the domain to harvest parcels separately, letting others continue to ripen, and thus improving the production quality.
