Details

Indigene Mas des Agrunelles, biodynamic wine, 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 15% Carignan, a fresh wild berry aroma and zippy mouth feel predominates and leads to a moreish, soft and enticing end palate. The Carignan is aged in oak barrels and the other grapes in steel, we think of Indigene as Mas Nicot rouge with a turbo charge. The style and authenticity is the same, the bristling red fruits and freshness are there too but Indigene has more give in terms of body, depth and finish, a lovely red wine.




The story of Mas des Agrunelles is an incredible one. Frédéric Porro was an aspiring Motor cross rider until an accident left him in a wheelchair. His disability led him to a new passion - wine - after his sister asked him to put together the wine list for he restaurant. From that moment on, he became devoted to the grape. Mas des Agrunelles came about from his collaboration with Stéphanie Ponson – owner of Mas Nicot – in 2005 near Murles in Languedoc. They usually say about it: 'we first met thanks to wine and now wine unites us'. The name of the estate comes from the fact that there are a lot of wild sloe trees around the vineyards and sloe is 'Agrunelles' in old occitan. The 18 hectares of vineyards are on a dozen of plots and the vines are planted on clay and limestone soils. Work is biodynamic in the vineyards with traditional methods of ploughing with horses and no chemicals at all.
