Details

Langhe Nebbiolo Burlotto, stunning, complex Nebbiolo from Piemonte Icon Burlotto, could be (a light) Barolo, textured and full of terroir nuance. This Nebbiolo wine from the great Burlotto estate, now under the tutelage of Fabio Alessandria, grandson of the late GB Burlotto, god father of Verduno wine and Barolo in general. Although Nebbiolo is generally considered a full bodied and rich wine, young Nebbiolo's from Piemonte can be very delicate and easy drinking wines and this is the case with Burlotto. The most evident aroma is floral rather than the older secondary aromas from Barolo. Langhe Nebbiolo tends to be from younger vines however Fabio takes fruit from his Barolo vineyards and then uses a shorter maceration and wood ageing. The palate is fresh, almost crunchy and well balanced between acidity, tannin and flavour. On a cold blustery night, it makes a great alternative to the more expensive Barolo's however this wine also reveals Nebbiolo's charming, feminine side and even slightly chilled from the fridge in the summer time, it is a sheer delight!
