Langhe Nebbiolo Cascina Disa Elio Sandri, elegant, traditional, floral, structured Nebbiolo. From the hills of the Langhe comes this excellent Nebbiolo, made by esteemed Barolo producer Elio Sandri. The wine spends 4 months in chestnut barrels, then 12 months in bottle to mature and soften. The nose is of flowers, herbs and tobacco, and a velvety palate of licorice and spice.
Cascina Disa in Monforte d'Alba was a settlement of Monks of the Abbey of Breme at the beginning of the 15th century, and even then was used for wine production. Since 1965 it has become the heart of the Sandri family winery, that continues the ancient wine-growing traditions of the area. Elio now makes his wines with the highest respect for nature and for tradition, eschewing industrial methods. The Sandri estate makes elegant wines that combine the feminine aromas of great Nebbiolo with the masculine structure of a serious full bodied red wine. Superb for hearty meat dishes, truffles, game and strong Piemontese cheese.

Superb example of this type of wine. Strong and structured.
