Details

Le Lesc Blanc Plaimont, crisp, easy, fruity and refreshing white wine. It is no surprise that it appears at many a fine restaurant as the house bottle, both red and white perform extremely well under a tenner. Or for a party, if you want your wine to taste like wine then Lesc is the bottle for you. The white, being a blend of Colombard (40%) and Ugni Blanc (60%), is light, extremely fruity and refreshing with pleasant acidity. A plate of organic greens dotted with goats cheese and olive oil, some good bread and a bottle of this is very fine nourishment indeed.

As much as we would like our website to be filled exclusively with exciting natural wines, we do recognise the need for good quality wines that don't break the bank, and this occasionally means a bit of compromise. The Caves Cooperatives de Plaimont have been making wine since the 70s, and now encompass over 800 small family winemakers in the Cotes de Gascogne region of France, which is between Bordeaux and Madiran. Despite being a large operation, they seek to promote local grapes, capture the character of the region, and work in a way that is fair to the growers and respects the land. Many of their growers are organic or in conversion. By working in this way, they are able to produce wines of exceptional value, that are easy to drink but far from being run of the mill. We think that Lesc Blanc and Rouge punch far above their weight.
