One Line Description Lighthouse New Zealand Gin made using 9 botanicals including citrus zests, coriander, liquorice and orris root

Lighthouse New Zealand Gin is smooth, fresh with citrus notes. The gin base comes from sugar cane imported from South Africa. The pure neutral spiriit is combined with pure water, filtered down through the New Zealand Rimutaka Ranges, and the nine hand selected botanicals, are then macerated in the copper-pot still overnight before the first distillation. The gin is re-distilled without the botanicals. This double distillation process creates a gin with a much more refined, smooth and elegant palate. Lighthouse Gin has a very fine, soft tone with individual botanical notes. The citrus and juniper are finely balanced giving a fresh, clean start on the palate with the deeper spices adding length and complexity to the mid palate. Botanicals include juniper, coriander, lemon and orange zest, cinnamon, almonds, orris root and liquorice root.

Lighthouse Gin was established in 2005 by Neil Catherall, who was founder an master distiller. The gin was inspired by the Cape Palliser Lighthouse at the southernmost tip of the North Island of New Zealand. Neil spent a number of years experimenting with a variety of native botanicals, including fresh zest from locally grown Navel Oranges and Yen Ben Lemons. He designed and commissioned a 200 litre copper still and began creating his unique small batch gin.

  1. How good is this wine?

Me and my partner got this while we were visiting New Zealand and I bought this as a surprise gift for his birthday. I was incredibly impressed with the speed and value of buon vino and the gin lived up to our memories
