Lugana Ca Lojera, balanced, elegant, crisp, fresh and very drinkable - ideal Sancerre alternative! This particular Lugana is a near-perfect white for us at Buon Vino, elegant, fruity, perfectly balanced, delicious. Lugana is drunk by the gallon load by tourists on the shores of Garda lake but not often found in the UK. The wines that make it over here are either not worth bothering with, or have been oaked to within an inch of their life. Ca Lojera produces their basic wine with no oak from exceptional quality fruit. It reminds me sometimes of Sauvignon Blanc and would certainly be a great alternative for a Sancerre lover. I think this encapsulates what most people look for in a white wine: balanced, fruity, medium bodied, semi aromatic, round and soft yet fresh and drinkable, absolutely spot on and impossible not to enjoy!
Husband and wife team Ambra and Franco transformed their humble farm on the shores of Lake Garda into one of the best wineries in the vicinity in the early 1990s. Their now 18 hectare estate produces exclusively white wine made from Turbiana, with refreshing balance and minerality. The name refers to the wolves of legend which inhabited the area. Ambra and Franco strike a great balance between using modern technology, such as temperature control in the cellar, and traditional methods to create quality wines that are clean, approachable and delicious.
