We're very proud of our new producer Paglione, so we've made it easy for you and put together a nicely discounted mixed case of their reds. The Azienda Agricola Paglione is in the historic area of the Daunia in northern Puglia. The nearby town Lucera from where the local DOC takes its name dates back well over 2000 years and was possibly founded and named by the Etruscans, in which case the name probably means Holy Wood (luc = ‘wood’, eri = ‘holy’). The fertile land around the city is home to many crops, like tomatoes, wheat and olives. There are around 80-100 hectares of vines in the DOC of Lucera, mostly planted to the main grape Nero di Troia with some Montepulciano, Sangiovese and white grapes, Bombino Bianco, Malvasia and Trebbiano. The Paglione farm between the Tavoliere and the Sub Appenine Dauno zone was the fruit if a union between two families, Faccilongo and Albano. In 1994, Beniamino and Maria Costanza started to convert the land of their parents into organic farming but mainly to produce high quality Olives and Tomatoes. The vines came a little later, located in Contrada Perazzelle and Mezzana Grande, they have been farmed organically since the start with the hand of artisan always near to care for the vines and the wine making process.

This case includes 2 bottles of Caporale (Nero di Troia, Montepulciano and Bombino Bianco), which is full bodied and fresh, full of rich dark fruits, prunes in alcohol, deep and mature yet elegant. A great Barolo alternative. 2 bottles of Perazzelle, Nero di Troia, Sangiovese, which is rich and rustic with sweet spice, bold, deep, warming body and structure yet fresh and elegant. 1 bottle of Componimento, which is for anyone who loves Amarone, bold, full bodied, sweet fruits and spice, robust but smooth, very tasty winter red wine, made from Nero di Troia and Montepulciano. Finally there's 1 bottle of their skin contact white wine L'Eclettico, 8 days skin contact, Malvasia and Bombino. Mature, candied citrus fruits, clove and spice characterise this delicious semi-orange wine. Cin Cin.
