The stunning debut release of Caroline Bain
Caroline Bain has immediately made her mark on the wine world with the debut of her 'Coeur Vaillant' Sauvignon Blanc. The wine, produced from her biodynamic vineyard nestled in the heart of the classic Sauvignon Blanc region Pouilly Fumé, is simply a triumph.
Unlike the typical interpretations of Pouilly Fumé, which are often perceived as merely crisp, with a trademark hint of smoke, Caroline Bain's version bursts with richness, purity, and complexity. It's a profound wine born from the famed 'silex' soils of the region. Rather than crispness, this wine offers rich intensity, complemented by a balancing mineral tension.
In 2020, Bain made the decision to produce wines under her own name and she now manages a total of 2.5 hectares of vines spread across two plots in Tracy-sur-Loire. Her wines, however, are labelled VDF, eschewing stylistic limitations of the AOC.
The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed, and the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured for 30 months before being bottled.
