Details

Pink Bulles Rose NV Jean Maupertuis, biodynamic, light, sparkling pink fizz, Gamay. A lovely delicate sparkling rose made from Gamay, with a touch of residual sugar balanced by a fresh vein of acidity. It is a cute Pet Bul made au natural with wild yeasts and second fermentation finishing in the bottle with manual disgorgement with no malolactic, no filtering, no fining and no sulphur.

Domaine Maupertuis is a 3.8 hectare estate located in the commune of Pérignat-lès-Sarlièves fairly close to Clermont-Ferrand. The vines, some of them 100 years old, are planted on a mixture of terroirs, and grow mainly a local variety of Gamay. Jean Maupertuis doesn’t use chemical fertilizers, insecticides or herbicides in the vineyard, and still hand-harvests and sorts all of the grapes, and most of the wines undergo carbonic maceration, so sulphur is usually omitted entirely.
