Details

Populis Red Les Lunes Living Wines Collective, organic californian red wine, fresh, fruity. Made from mostly Carignan with some Nero d'Avola, Zinfandel and Tempranillo, this wine is a lovely example of natural wine from the states. It has lovely fresh acid, ripe fresh fruits and something animal about it underlying. It comes from the rather unfortunately named Poor Ranch, which has been dry-farmed organically for 67 years. No yeast or sulphur was added and the maturation took place over 7 months in old French barrels.

Populis is the love child of three winemaking school friends, Diego Roig, Sam Baron, and Shaunt Oungoulian. Populis was born from the desire to make lighthearted, naturally made, extremely drinkable wines from exciting vineyard sites throughout California. We partner with farmers who grow organically, many of whom dry farm historic, old vine vineyards.
