Details

Primitivo Gioia del Colle Fatalone, natural , rich, rustic, blockbuster wine. Primitivo Fatalone is from the Gioia del Colle is a big wine, rich and concentrated with that fantastic warm southern feel that typifies Primitivo. Natural production and low sulphur can mean the wine can have a touch residual CO2 when first opened but don't worry, this is just to preserve the wine and will dissipate quickly. It has sweet tobacco scents and flavours of sour black cherry, plum and toffee. The finish is soft and warm with notes of toasted almond. It is perfect for tasty lamb cooked slowly with rosemary and gravy made from Primitivo!

At the end of the 18th century Nicola Petrera, an ancestor of the current owner, chose the Spinomarino hill, the most aired and sunny one in the Gaudella area, to grow Primitivo grapes. Filippo Petrera has preserved both tradition and passion for this Primitivo until this very day. The family ensures the greatest care in every detail: organic farming, grape selection, processing and bottling. The family processes only their own estate grown grapes under the name 'Fatalone', with a total production of 40,000 bottles per 6 hectares of vineyards.

Made me think of Brunello We drank the 2012

I bought this wine after devouring the 2009 at a local Italian restaurant. However its seems as if the 2012 is a little deeper than its 2009 counterpart. So if you like your red a little more full bodied then this is for you - however do not mistake it for a pair with the 2009 or you will be sorely disappointed
