Primitivo Gioia del Colle Fatalone, organic, low sulphur, natural , rich, rustic, blockbuster wine. Primitivo Fatalone is from the Gioia del Colle is a big wine, rich and concentrated with that fantastic warm southern feel that typifies Primitivo. It has sweet tobacco scents and flavours of sour black cherry, plum and toffee. The finish is soft and warm with notes of toasted almond. It is perfect for tasty lamb cooked slowly with rosemary and gravy made from Primitivo!

At the end of the 19th century Nicola Petrera, an ancestor of the current owner, chose the Spinomarino hill, the most aired and sunny one in the Gaudella area, to grow Primitivo grapes. Filippo Petrera who oversees production today, has preserved both tradition and passion for this Primitivo until this very day. The upmost care is taken over the quality of production, with organic viticulture practiced, and music therapy in the cellar so as to promote the micro oxygenation and the activity of the living micro flora in the wine. Use of sulphur is limited, as the grapes are transferred straight into the winery from harvest, and all the steps of production take place on sight. Fermentation takes place naturally, and they are bottled without filtration. Their entire operation is powered by solar energy, making them carbon neutral.

5Reviews For Primitivo Gioia del Colle Fatalone 2019

  1. How good is this wine?

At 15% I was expecting quite a bold wine, but it manages to have alcoholic heft without the body to accompany it. It's inoffensive, but not the heavy-hitter I was expecting.

  2. How good is this wine?

Have been drinking this for a while since having it at Angela's Hatnett's restaurant, Cafe Murano in London. It is a good , robust wine that matches Italian food very well.

  3. How good is this wine?

I would definetly recommend this wine. Full of flavour with a distinctive taste.

Made me think of Brunello We drank the 2012

  5. How good is this wine?

    Katie Beech20/04/2017

I bought this wine after devouring the 2009 at a local Italian restaurant. However its seems as if the 2012 is a little deeper than its 2009 counterpart. So if you like your red a little more full bodied then this is for you - however do not mistake it for a pair with the 2009 or you will be sorely disappointed
