La Montina

Franciacorta La Montina is now considered to be one of the best glasses of bubbly produced in Italy. If you say to the good people of Franciacorta that they make Italian Champagne, they wouldn't be pleased but in basically, this wine has many of the characteristics of its more illustrious counterpart from France. This is high quality sparkling wine made in the 'Metodo Classico' , the process of second fermentation and long ageing in bottle. They have always been committed to quality at La Montina, investing in 1999 in a huge 'Marmonier' wine press to make sure they extract the best quality juice. In the winery, no pumps are used, wine is transported by gravity alone. They age for longer than the appellation laws decree and the yields in the vineyard are kept as low as possible. Michele Bozza now runs the winery having taken over from his father. Located at the beautiful Villa Baiana, Michele has raised the reputation of La Montina into the stars and yet the wines are still very reasonably priced.
