La Montina produce some of the best sparkling wines in Italy, and whilst they may not always appreciate being compared to their French counterparts in Champagne, they certainly rival them for quality! They have always been committed to quality at La Montina, investing in 1999 in a huge ‘Marmonier’ wine press to make sure they extract the best quality juice.
In the winery, no pumps are used, wine is transported by gravity alone. They age for longer than the appellation laws decree and the yields in the vineyard are kept as low as possible. Michele Bozza now runs the winery having taken over from his father. Located at the beautiful Villa Baiana, Michele has raised the reputation of La Montina into the stars and yet the wines are still very reasonably priced.
