La Raia is a demeter certified estate at the very heart of Gavi production.
Georgio Rosso Cairo acquired the farm in 2003 and immediately began to work according to biodynamic principles so as to best create a balanced and healthy environment for the plants. Since, they have expanded to over 180 hectares of land, including woodland, fields, pastures and of course vineyard, all farmed in the same way. As well as this, they have invested in other projects on the estate, including a Waldorf School, retreat and artistic space. They are also shareholders in a number of companies which promote eco-friendly living. From the 62 hectares of vines, they produce 3 expressions of Cortese, all under the Gavi DOCG, and two of Barbera.
