Les Celliers de Meknès is a private company responsible for about 20% of Morocco’s wine production.
Based within the Appellation Guerrouane in northern Morocco, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, this area has been producing producing wines for more than 2000 years. The vineyards are at an altitude of 550 metres, which brings much needed coolness to an otherwise warm climate with plenty of sunshine. That, combined with sandy, well draining soils, makes for very approachable, clean, easy drinking wines. Whilst they’re not a natural winery, it’s great to see lovely wines coming out of a lesser known region.
