Albarino Terras Gauda Abadia San Campio 375ml half bottle, refreshing, citrussy, supple white from Green Spain. 100% Albarino from terraced vineyards above the river Minao which divides Spain from Portugal. A delicious example of this very popular white grape, Albarino is considered to be the Spanish gold of whites grapes for its colour and quality. The region of Rias Baixas where the best wine comes from is dominated by the Atlantic and is a green, lush and fertile land with high rainfall and punctuated with pine trees, chestnut and oak. Originally mined for Gold by the Romans, this is a region famous for its wild horses, celtic traditions and world class sea food. Terres Gauda’s wines are pure and elegant, coming from a variety of soil types the Abadia San Campio wine is Albarino in purezza and has citrus, grapefruit, pineapple and mandarin with fresh acidity and supple mouth feel. A delicious seafood wine, the Galicians would drink with Mariscada, a seafood fest of Octopus, mussels, clams, prawns and of course lobster!

The Terras Gauda winery was founded in the O Rosal Valley, within the territory encompassing the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin.

Terras Gauda is notable for owning around 85% of its own vineyards; the remainder of the grapes are provided under strict quality control agreements with local growers. Having this control allows the estate to pick later and more selectively (and over a greater period of time) than most others ensuring greater maturity and higher sugar levels in the grapes. The sheltered aspect of the vineyards surrounded by forest, the proximity to the Mino and to the sea, also promotes ripening. The result is wines that taste exceptionally fresh and bright. They employ modern techniques so as to produce clean, consistent wines driven by their aromatics, but carefully limit the chemical substances which are used on the vineyard, so as to protect the land.
