AOC Valais Fendant Domaine De Beudon, Rare Swiss White wine, Biodynamic wine, 100% Fendant or Chasselas, mature vintage drinking beautifully. On tasting these wines, one is filled with emotion. On seeing and understanding where they come from and the labour of love which goes into this domaine, one is already getting out the credit card to buy a few bottles. Swiss wine doesn’t find its way to the UK that often, it is Europe’s special secret that they keep for themselves. These wines from Beudon are stunning in their complexity, beguiling in aroma and texture and just lovely to drink. The alcohol is also low so you taste the grapes and terroir, not the booze. The 2010 Fendant is amazing wine, a grape which doesn’t often yield greatness (this is simple Chasselas don’t forget) but with the age in bottle, the wine takes on a depth and richness that is truly unique. Very very tasty wine, a rare pleasure.

Fendant is another name for Chasselas, the classic Swiss grape. This is an almost perfect example of it. It has minerals, white flowers and and a slight nuttiness (probably from the nearly 10 years it has now!).
Makes a great aperitif, I think it’d work well with salty cheese too.
