Aphros Loureiro Vinho Verde Branco 2024

Aphros Vinho Verde Loureiro is fresh, minerally, biodynamic, Portuguese white wine. Aphros Vinho Verde displays a variety of pleasant citrus fruits on the palate such as lemon and tangerine. Fruits, flowers and minerality are the key notes within a delicate balance between sweetness and acidity on the palate. A highly enjoyable white wine for sipping in the garden on a hot day. Slightly rustic yes, but its imperfections are as always part of the charm of drinking a wine that has been made in harmony with nature. This wine cries out for some fresh seafood and a sun-drenched terrace.

Aphros is perfectly situated on exceptional soil and gently sloping south-facing hillsides within the Vinhao Verde area.  The sun exposure is ideal and is balanced with the cooling Atlantic breezes.  This combination produces wines with lovely acidity and minerality.

The 20 hectare estate is rich in biodiversity, which is key for healthy vines. Here you'll find forests with species of acacia, oak, beech, pine and eucalyptus, chestnuts orchards and a park of century old monumental trees. They farm biodynamically and use 60 clay amphorae lined with beeswax for their fermentations.

Vasco Croft has run the winery since 2004.  He is a lifelong student of Rudolf Steiner and a passionate exponent of biodynamic viticulture.  The winery has developed from modest beginnings in 2004 to being one of the most important in the region with an expansion of the vineyard area, new cellars and now visitor and arts centre.

The wines remain the same, authentic, interesting and delicious.
