Baglio Nero d’Avola Ciello, organic, natural, fruity, rustic red. This is the better wine from the excellent Ciello estate nestled in the hills of Alcamo. The wine has more intensity and richness than the Ciello Rosso however maintains the freshness and the slight rustic edge which makes it very drinkable. The Baglio Nero d’Avola is dark in colour, has notes of black fruit, cedar, spice, mocha and earth. Very good with chops on a rainy night.

The dynamic Vesco family took over the winery 10 years ago and have since revolutionised the viticultural practices and invested heavily in cutting edge technology for the winery and bottling line.

Their hundred hectares of organic vineyards are located high up in the hills above Alcamo. The wines are all certified organic and planted on south-east facing slopes on sandy soils 150 – 300m above sea level. The climate is clearly suited for producing the best quality grapes. The results of their excellent work are evident in the fragrant crisp Catarratto and fruity, crunchy Nero d'Avola that they produce at outstanding value.  Night harvesting and modern temperature controlled fermentations result in a bright, fresh wines. The wines are unfiltered and have an encouragingly hazy appearance, excellent natural wine at a great price.

Just tasted this wine after a recommendation by the guy who run Buon Vino..

Tasted many wines from this grape and this is particularly good with more body than usual for Nero d’avola .
