BB Gamay Rose Les Terres Blanches 2024 fantastic Biodynamic rose from the Loire valley. Made by Celine and Benoit Blet at Les Terres Blanches, near Oiron on the edge of the Anjou appellation coming from the Porte du Parc parcel of the estate.
100% Gamay The bunches are hand harvested early in the morning to minimise any oxidation. Whole bunches are then loaded directly into the press making this a “direct press” rose. The juice then undergoes natural yeast fermentation at pretty low temperatures (made more like a white wine) to retain the fresh Gamay aromatics. There is then a short post fermentation maturation in stainless steel before bottling. The wine sees no oak whatsoever.
On the nose it’s packed with red fruit, strawberries, raspberries, red cherry, redcurrant also with a touch of peach/nectarine. On the palate it’s reminiscent of tart English sweets with again more subtle layers of red fruit and a slightly savoury edge with lively acidity and very little tannin. A lovely fresh aromatic Gamay Rose!
