Janire Moraza is the 6th generation of her family to work this small 18 hectare estate in Rioja. Although the estate has always been worked traditionally, without the use of modern chemicals, it was Janire who converted fully to organic production when she took over just a few years ago. Her first batch of natural wines in 2015 were in tiny volumes, just a few hundred bottles and they were from the start, sensational. Together with her partner, Patricio Brongo, a craft cider producer, Janire is making Rioja accessible to a younger generation of drinkers looking for fresher, lighter styles without the overuse of oak and oxidative flavours. These wines are above all elegant and exceptionally drinkable, quite simply, how Rioja should be.
