Brutal Gut Oggau, biodynamic wine, 100% Roesler, rare grape, pink pulp and deep red skins, this wine is not Rose but also not red, unique, intriguing, intelligent but loads of fun, tiny amounts available and you will want to buy more. Brutal is only made in those rare vintages when the Roesler, a relatively unknown autocthonous Austrian variety, reaches full ripeness and there is not enough quantity of good quality Blaufrankisch with which to make the delicious Josephine wine. Roesler is a crossing of Zweigelt, Seyve-Villard 18-402 and Blaufränkisch and is named after the former director of Austria’s oldest viticultural college, Leonard Roesler. It has a lot of colour, tannins and extract but this wine is made with virtually no skin contact and so produces a subtle yet energetic light red which captures Roesler’s wild berry aromas but leaves its heavy tannins and colour in the vat. A stunning drop of classy natural wine from one the most exciting wineries we know. Gut Oggau’s wines always leave you wanting more.
