Buon Vino Bordeaux Mixed Case – 6 bottles, a mixed case of natural Bordeaux wines from three celebrated producers. This is a fantastic delve into natural Bordeaux wine, a region which up until recently has not had a lot to offer the natural wine lover. Firstly the great Chateau Le Puy is represented with their signature claret Emilien, a stunning blend of mainly Merlot, a little Cabernet and Carmenere. This is a big daddy of the case, a special wine for special occasions and fine foods, maybe something for the Xmas dinner table. Next Jardin d’Edina, a super voluptuous red wine and the first vintage from a new project by celebrated Rioja producer Olivier Riviere. Olivier is a Frenchman by birth but has lived and produced wine in La Rioja for well over 20 years. He has found a piece of land with ‘potential’ as he sees it to make really good natural Bordeaux and has embarked on the 6 year mission to convert to Biodynamics. Although a long way off, this first vintage is a reflection of the potential of the vineyard and is a subtle, brambly red with good body, dark fruits and sweet spices. Finally, another new project in Bordeaux, this time from Mattieu Cosse who makes out superb Cahors wines. Mattieu again has found a vineyard which he feels can be fantastic for making affordable and easy drinking natural Claret and white Bordeaux wines. The Blaye red is once again mainly Merlot, soft, juicy, a crowd pleaser claret. The white is a blend of Sauvignon and Muscadelle grown from 2 hectares of vines overlooking the Gironde river, the 2020 is developing beautifully with a rich, warming texture, waxy mouthfeel and ripe stone fruit character.
